Brendan Murray, the writer of this year’s Christmas show Mansfield Park & Ride for Eastern Angles, has been honoured with a prestigious award by the Writers' Guild of Great Britain. He received it in the Best theatre play for children and young people category with Scarlet Ribbons.

Other winners include screenwriter Andrew Davies and Juliet Gilkes Romero for At the Gates of Gaza. Romero’s play was seen at the New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich and the Theatre Royal, Bury St Edmunds last year. Murray is best known for his work with Oxfordshire Touring Theatre Company between 2003 and 2008.
