A Show About Bolan in Ipswich

There’s a world première of a new musical planned for Ipswich’s New Wolsey Theatre this autumn. Artistic director Peter Rowe has written 20th Century Boy to celebrate the life of Marc Bolan and his band T.Rex.

Created in association with Gary Lloyd, who is also the director, the idea for this show originated with Brian Dunham, Colin Giffin and Nicky Graham. It will run from 8 September until 1 October, exploring the impetus behind Bolan’s whirlwind career to become “bigger than the Beatles”.

A number of performances starting at slightly earlier times than usual are scheduled, including those marking Bolan’s birthday and the anniversary of his death in 1977. There will also be special captioned and audio-described performances. The New Wolsey has a track-record as far as musicals are concerned and tickets for this one are already on sale.
