Contacting The World set for Manchester, 9 July

Contacting the World, Contact’s international young people’s theatre festival, returns this July for a week of innovative theatre, workshops and collaboration.

Over the last eight months young people’s theatre companies in the UK, Trinidad & Tobago, Thailand and Nigeria have been paired, sharing skills and ideas via social media to create new pieces of work. The results will be showcased during the festival alongside workshops, discussions and matinees.

The pairs are:

Contact’s Young Actors’ Company (UK) and Arts-in-Actions Wordsmiths (Trinidad & Tobago)

YARD Youth Theatre (UK) and Moradokmai Theatre Community (Thailand)

Boundless Productions (UK) and Crown Troupe of Africa (Nigeria)

First established 10 years ago as part of the 2002 Commonwealth Games, Contacting the World has worked with more than 700 participants from more than 30 countries. Held every two years it inspires innovation, creativity and international dialogue and has a formed a network of young theatre makers who communicate with each other around the world.
