Spot’s Birthday Party tours to Playhouse, 9 May

Spot’s Birthday Party returns to the stage in for a revival of David Wood’s adaptation of Eric Hill’s original story. This celebration – the perfect introduction to theatre for young children – will be at the Liverpool Playhouse next month.

In its commitment to providing theatre for children and young people, the Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse bring Spot’s Birthday Party to the stage in a season of many family friendly shows. Children and parents will be invited to join in the fun with music and songs, games and stories. Guests will be encouraged to arrive at the theatre dressed for a party, bringing a home-made birthday card for Spot, in a show that will have theatrical magic to capture everyone’s imagination.

All Spot’s friends will be there; Steve the Monkey, Helen the Hippo and Tom the Crocodile, plus Spot’s mum and dad, Sally and Sam. Special guest Marco the Rabbit Magician will be there too, ensuring there’s never a dull moment.

Spot is currently enjoying his 32nd year as an international favourite amongst early learners and parents alike, and this show presents a great opportunity for children to gain a more interactive experience with their favourite puppy.

David Wood is the UK’s premier children’s playwright. Among his numerous acclaimed adaptations are The BFG and The Tiger Who Came To Tea – both of which have been to the Liverpool Playhouse. For this reimagining of another children’s classic, he has taken Eric Hill’s characters and woven them into a bright and colourful, musical entertainment.

The cast includes LIPA alumni Matthew Tanner, and Adam Ryan. Spot’s Birthday Party is at the Liverpool Playhouse from 9 – 11 May.
