Kara Tointon will star in a new production of Gaslight from January 2017.

The actress, famous for her roles in Pygmalion, ITV's Mr Selfridge and EastEnders, will play Bella Manningham, wife of Jack who is out most nights leaving his wife home alone. She can't explain the disappearance of familiar objects or the mysterious footsteps around the house, and the arrival of Detective Rough turns the couples marriage upside down.

Jack Manningham will be played by Rupert Young, best know for playing Sir Leon in Merlin, and Detective Rough will be played by Keith Allen (The Homecoming).

Patrick Hamilton's play was made into a film in 1944 which starred Oscar winner Ingrid Bergman as Bella.

The play opens in Birmingham New Alexandra on 6 January before touring to Aylesbury, Woking York, Brighton, Cambridge, Sheffield. Richmond and Cardiff.
