Soprano sisters Mary and Sophie Bevan appear as part of the consort, reviving the age-old tradition of family singing in a performance of sacred choral works.
In this concert, the ensemble performs some favourite works from their repertoire, including pieces by Tomás Luis de Victoria, William Byrd, Charles Villiers Stanford, Gustav Holst and David Bevan.
Actor and Bevan family friend Rory Kinnear (Skyfall, Bank of Dave) reads excerpts written by the previous generation of the choir, offering a charming and funny insight into the story behind their group.
The Bevan Family Consort formed in 2013 and is an off-shoot of the original Bevan Family Choir, who toured the country and released two albums in the 1970s.
The tradition of music within the family was begun by Roger and Molly Bevan (grandparents of the current group) and has continued into the second generation.
The Bevan Family Consort today is made up of 14 first cousins, six of whom are professional singers, including Sophie and Mary Bevan, who have made names for themselves on the international stage in opera and on the recital and concert platforms.
The consort released their debut disc on Signum Classics in May 2023.
