Lemn Sissay & Vincet Dance Theatre – Art of Attachment

About the Show

An evening of two new works made in collaboration with women and children at Brighton Oasis Project (BOP), a unique substance misuse treatment service in the heart of Brighton. Lemn Sissay performs new work, informed by his poetry workshops with BOP and his own experience as a ?child of the state’, including women and children living apart from family members. In future this poem will be publicly installed within Brighton and Hove. Throughout 2018 Brighton based choreographer/director Charlotte Vincent has been leading workshops with BOP clients and interviewing professionals involved in attachment to explore the complex emotional bonds that exist between women in recovery and their partners, children, family and friends. This new collaboration between women from Oasis and performers from Vincent Dance Theatre combines hard-hitting real-life testimonies, movement and spoken word to evoke the emotional, personal and social impact of attachment on all of our lives. Insightful and uplifting, this production celebrates the everyday resilience of women and children overcoming adversity whose stories demand to be seen and heard.
