Although they were both left devastated after being eliminated from the ITV’s Superstar, for Jeff Anderson and Tim Prottey-Jones their involvement with the show isn’t over. They have both been offered parts in the Jesus Christ Superstar arena tour, which starts on September 21st at the O2 Arena in London. The production, which has a contemporary setting and features riot police and free-runners, is now fully cast and mid-way through it’s rehearsal stage.

Jeff, the youngest of the “Final 11” was nicknamed Baby Jesus in the TV show and, as they say, many a true word is spoken in jest – as he now finds himself as a member of the show’s ensemble and first cover Jesus.

“I am delighted to be first cover Jesus, the main understudy, and one of the ensemble in the Jesus Christ Superstar arena tour” said Jeff, “and I’m loving rehearsals and working alongside Tim Prottey-Jones, Melanie Chisholm and Superstar winner Ben Forster and one of the best things is that I get to do rehearsals with Tim Minchin – because we’re tear’n it up”

The role of Judas in the arena tour is now confirmed to be played by someone called Tim as, should Mr Minchin be indisposed, Tim Prottey-Jones, a former charity worker, will take over as first cover Judas. He also has his own part in the production’s ensemble.

Tim Prottey-Jones said, “Yes, it’s official! I will be appearing in the Jesus Christ Superstar arena tour. I will be covering Tim Minchin’s role of Judas or appearing in the ensemble.  Rehearsals are going very well and it’s amazing to be surrounded by legends.

Jeff and Tim can be seen in Jesus Christ Superstar at The O2 Arena, London (21-23 Sept), Glasgow SECC (25-26 Sept), Newcastle Metro Radio Arena (28 Sept), Manchester Arena (30 Sept + 7 Oct), Cardiff Motorpoint (2-3 Oct), Birmingham NIA (4-5 Oct), Belfast Odyssey (9 Oct), Dublin O2 (12-13 Oct), Liverpool Echo Arena (16 Oct), Wembley Arena (17 Oct), Nottingham Capital FM Arena (19-20 Oct) and Sheffield Motorpoint (21 Oct)
