The West End suffered a power cut with theatres left entirely dark last week.

Theatres including the Palace, Gielgud and Prince Edward were all without power.

Aladdin, Les Miserables, Jersey Boys and Curious Incident cancelled their evening shows after the power cut out at 5.20pm. More shows are expected not to go ahead this evening and venues are asking patrons to contact their point of purchase for ticket refunds. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child performance went ahead at a later time of 8.30pm.

Despite previously announcing tonight's performance has been cancelled, Thriller also ran at 8.30pm.

UK Power Networks tweeted that engineers were expected to have power restored between 8.30 and 9.30. Some power has already been restored in parts of the area.

Soho was also plunged into darkness in October 2015 after a power cut affected a large part of central London.
