Running from 17 December 2013 to 26 January 2014 (previews from 12 December), the production will be directed by John Plews with musical direction by Simon Burrow.

Porter’s 1948 Tony-Award-winning musical focuses on the out-of-town try-out of a new musical version of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew. Sparks fly on stage and off as sparring between the co-stars threatens the opening night.

The score includes “Too Darn Hot”, “Brush up your Shakespeare” and “Another Op’nin, Another Show”.

It was recently seen at the Old Vic when Trevor Nunn‘s WhatsOnStage Award-nominated Chichester Festival Theatre revival transferred to London last Christmas.

Billed as the “London fringe premiere”, it will be presented at Upstairs at the Gatehouse, which is located in Highgate Village, by Ovation.

Previous musical revivals at the venue include Guys and Dolls, The Drowsy Chaperone and Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story.
