The stage adaptation of Joe Simpson's memoir Touching the Void will transfer to the West End later this year.

Directed by Tom Morris (War Horse) and written by David Greig (Europe), the piece first premiered at Bristol Old Vic last year before transferring to the Royal Lyceum in Edinburgh and Royal and Derngate in Northampton.

Appearing in the West End transfer will be original cast members Fiona Hampton, Patrick McNamee and Josh Williams, who will be joined by Angus Yellowlees, making his professional stage debut.

Simpson's memoir is set in 1985 in the Peruvian Andes, where two climbers (Simpson and his friend Simon Yates) are stranded on the side of a mountain and have to make impossible choices to survive.

Touching the Void has design by Ti Green, lighting by Chris Davey, composition and sound design by Jon Nicholls, movement by Sasha Milavic Davies and casting by Jill Green.

It will run at the Duke of York's Theatre from 9 November 2019 to 29 February 2020, with tickets on sale now.
