The RSC’s The Constant Wife with Rose Leslie: rehearsal photos released

Laura Wade’s piece, based on W Somerset Maugham’s original play of the same title, will be directed by the RSC’s co-artistic director Tamara Harvey and have music by Jamie Cullum.

As already revealed, Rose Leslie will make her RSC debut in the role of Constance Middleton. You can listen to the casting announcement and more from the RSC in our free podcast below:

Joining Rose is Kate Burton, who was nominated for a Tony Award for playing Constance in the 2005 production on Broadway, as Mrs Culver, Constance’s mother.

Raj Bajaj will also star as Bernard Kersal, Emma McDonald as Marie-Louise Durham, Mark Meadows as Bentley, Daniel Millar as Mortimer Durham, Amy Morgan as Martha, and Luke Norris as John Middleton.

Making their RSC debuts as off-stage understudies will be Connor Going and Jess Nesling.

The creative team features set and co-costume designer Anna Fleischle, co-costume designer Cat Fuller, lighting designer Ryan Day, sound designer Claire Windsor, movement director Annie-Lunnette Deakin-Foster, and casting director Charlotte Sutton.

This production is commissioned by and presented in association with David Pugh Limited.

It’ll run at the Swan Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon from Friday, 20 June to Saturday, 2 August, with a press night set for 1 July.
