The Devil Wears Prada cast to sign albums at special event

The Devil Wears Prada will celebrate the release of its West End cast album with a signing.

The new musical follows Andy as she lands a job at a fashion magazine under the demanding Miranda Priestly. As she sacrifices her personal life for success, she questions if it’s worth it.

Featuring a score by Elton John and Shaina Taub (Suffs), a book by Kate Wetherhead (Burlesque the Musical), and direction and choreography by Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots), the piece is continuing its West End premiere run at the Dominion Theatre.

The original cast recording from The Devil Wears Prada: A New Musical is set to be released on CD, Digital and LP formats on 19 September via Island EMI. The first track, “Miranda Girl”, is available now, while the digital release will include two previously unheard Elton John original demos.

Leading the show are WhatsOnStage Award nominee Vanessa Williams as the fearsome Miranda Priestly, WhatsOnStage Award winner Matt Henry as Nigel, Georgie Buckland as Andy, and WhatsOnStage Award nominee Amy Di Bartolomeo as Emily.

The four will attend a signing event at the Dominion Theatre at 2pm on 19 September. Presented by Rough Trade, attendees aged 18 and over will be able to enjoy a prosecco reception, as well as have their albums signed. Fans are recommended to arrive by 2:30pm to guarantee entry and tickets to the event must be purchased in advance.

Also in the cast are Rhys Whitfield as Nate and James Darch (Mamma Mia!) as journalist Christian, while Debbie Kurup is standby Miranda Priestly.

Completing the company are Maddy Ambus, Gabby Antrobus, Selena Barron, Pamela Blair, Robertina Bonano, Josh Damer-Jennings, Lloyd Davies, Elishia Edwards, Akeem Ellis-Hyman, Jinny Gould, Natasha Heyward, Samuel How, Luke Jackson, Emma Johnson, Nathan Lorainey-Dineen, Liam Marcellino, Ciro Lourencio Meulens, Theo Papoui, Christopher Parkinson, Eleanor Peach, Ethan Le Phong, Jon Reynolds, Harriet Samuel-Gray, Olivia Saunders, Brandon Lee Sears, Joshua Steel, Kayleigh Thadani, Ella Valentine, and Tara Yasmin.

Casting from 18 October onwards will be confirmed in due course.

The production features set design by Tim Hatley (Back to the Future), costume design by Gregg Barnes (Legally Blonde), lighting design by Bruno Poet (Tina – The Tina Turner Musical), sound design by Gareth Owen (& Juliet) and casting by WhatsOnStage Award winner Jill Green.

It received four nominations for the 25th Annual WhatsOnStage Awards, including Best New Musical, Best Performer in a Musical for Williams, Best Supporting Performer in a Musical for Di Bartolomeo, and Best Wigs, Hair and Make Up for Campbell Young Associates.

The CD and Digital release contains all 18 songs from the musical, while the LP will include a selection of 12 tracks. The cast recording is produced and mixed by Giles Martin, with the Elton John Original demos produced by Matt Still and Kim Bullard.
