When something popular comes along, musical films and stage productions can be a lucrative place to be. Film studios know that looking to the stage can be a great way to find out what the next major hit will be, while many theatre producers can be eager to bring big screen classics into playhouses.
A new report has tallied up box office receipts from some of the largest shows and compared them to their screen counterparts. But which of these were more (globally) profitable: the stage or the screen adaptation?
