Suranne Jones returns to the West End to star in Beautiful Thing

Whatsonstage.com Award-winner Suranne Jones is heading back to the West
End to star in Jonathan Harvey’s play Beautiful Thing,
which will run at the Arts Theatre from 17 April to 25 May 2013 (previews from
13 April), before embarking on a UK tour.

The play, which will celebrate its 20th anniversary next year,
is an urban love story between two young men set on an inner city housing
estate. It tells the story of teenager Jamie’s relationship with classmate and
neighbour Ste. Together the two boys find comedy, warmth and the music of Mama
Cass through their loud-mouthed next door neighbour Leah.

Suranne Jones, who won the Whatsonstage.com Award for Best Supporting
Actress in a Play for A Few Good Men, has other theatre
credits including Top Girls and Blithe
Spirit
. She is also known for TV roles including Karen McDonald in
Coronation Street and DC Rachel Bailey in Scott
and Bailey
.

Jonathan Harvey’s plays include Canary and
Corrie!. He is a regular writer for Coronation
Street
and wrote the TV series Gimme, Gimme, Gimme.

Directed by Nikolai Foster, with design by Colin Richmond,
Beautiful Thing runs at the Arts Theatre until 25 May,
before touring to Liverpool, Leeds and Brighton.
