Following news of the end of its London run, Starlight Express will embark on a world tour.
The musical tells the story of Rusty the steam train, who dreams of becoming the fastest engine in the world. Since its 1984 premiere, Starlight Express has been seen by more than 30 million people worldwide. Luke Sheppard’s production, which runs at Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre until the late spring, picked up seven WhatsOnStage Awards last year.
Producer Michael Harrison said today: “I’m thrilled that Starlight Express will extend for the seventh time, in the unique environment of Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre. We are also thrilled that the success of this new production means we will embark on a world tour commencing in spring 2027, details of which we will announce shortly. However, for now, this is your final call for boarding to see the spectacular London revival in Wembley.”
More details about the show and its tour stops are expected in due course.
