Nominees announced for the Empty Space Peter Brook Awards

The awards celebrate the best in smaller theatre spaces and companies across the UK

The nominees have been announced for the Empty Space Peter Brook Awards, celebrating the best in smaller and touring theatre companies.

The categories celebrate the best in innovation, ensemble and general theatre support work, as well as the best venues across the UK.

Nominees this year for the Empty Space Award include Manchester's Hope Mill Theatre, Cardiff's The Other Room and Paines Plough's roving Roundabout venue.

Les Enfants Terribles, the Everyman Company and Theatre503 have also been recognised for their work over the last year. The London International Mime Festival will receive a Special Achievement Award.

2016's winners included the New Diorama Theatre, and the theatre company Gecko.

The ceremony will take place on 31 October at the National Theatre Studio.
