The show, featuring the iconic music of Bernard Herrmann, is orchestrated by Terry Davies and played by the New Adventures Orchestra, with designs by Lez Brotherston, lighting by Paule Constable, sound by Paul Groothuis and projection design from Duncan McLean.

The 2019 production received a glowing review from WhatsOnStage, saying: “it’s hard to not get swept away by the gorgeousness of one of Bourne’s most assured productions to date”.

Bourne said today: “The Red Shoes was the culmination of a 20-year ambition to bring Powell and Pressburger’s seminal 1948 film to the stage. It was also, in many ways, a personal love letter to a life in theatre and dance.

He added that this was a production a “landmark event…, becoming an instant classic and a beloved addition to our repertoire.”

After the last tour was cut short in 2020, the choreographer and director commented: “So, welcome back to the Ballet Lermontov and to paraphrase the great impresario himself… ‘It’s time to put on the red shoes, Vicky, and dance for us again….’”

Bourne’s The Midnight Bell is also currently on tour, while his choreography can also be seen in the West End’s Oliver! and Mary Poppins on tour.
