Revenues for SOLT’s annual initiative were up 64% on last year
Kids Week, the annual initiative that gives children free access to a range of West End shows when accompanied by a paying adult, has reported record-breaking ticket sales.
Kids Week 2014 sold more than 176,000 tickets for 40 West End shows throughout the month of August. Now in its 17th year, the scheme is run by the Society of London Theatre (SOLT).
Caro Newling, the new president of SOLT, said: "We are delighted that Kids Week has now become a firmly established annual event for family audiences, many of whom, via the campaign, are experiencing the magic of theatre for the very first time.
"This year, with access to 40 productions covering a huge variety of theatre experiences, the demand has been extraordinary. 2014 has proved to be another record-breaking year with a staggering 64% increase on 2013’s sales resulting in over 176,000 tickets being issued to children and their families."
