Joseph Millson is to star as Henry V at Chester's Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre this summer.

The actor will appear in Shakespeare's history play between 26 July and 25 August.

Millson's credits include The Last Kingdon, Banished, Holby City as well as EastEnders, Talk to Me and Penny Dreadful. He won the UK Theatre Award for Best Performance in a Play in 2017 for The Rover at the RSC and is due to star as Mr Banks in the revival production of Mary Poppins at the Prince Edward Theatre.

The Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre opens 5 July and runs until 25 August. As well as Henry V, the rep company will stage Twelfth Night and a brand new production of The Borrowers by Bryony Lavery. Rhys Jarman designs the three shows in the season, while Julia Thomas directs Henry V and Twelfth Night. Kate Posner directs The Borrowers.

Millson said: "I know some phrases get overused by people about to embark on new adventures but I really am delighted to be coming to Chester to join the ensemble company for this year's season at the beautiful Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre. For so many reasons!"
