Casting has been announced for the upcoming UK premiere of Martin Sherman's Gently Down the Stream.

Jonathan Hyde, Ben Allen and Harry Lawtey will star in the production, which opens at the Park Theatre on 18 February, with previews from 13 February, and runs until 16 March.

The play makes its debut in Sherman's 80th year, 40 years after his first play, Bent, which opened at the Royal Court and starred Ian McKellen. Sean Mathias directs the play, which is the story of Beau, an older American pianist living in London and Rufus, a young lawyer. The piece looks at gay history and celebrates equality, marriage and the right to dream.

Sherman's previous credits include Passing By, Cracks and Rio Grande. The design is from Lee Newby, lighting from Jamie Platt and sound and composition from Lex Kosanke.
