Just been test firing a Colt Magnum on the Guilford Yvonne Arnaud stage. I was advised to keep my mouth slightly open to allow for equalisation of the air pressure – hmm … wonder if I should tell that to the audience? Actually it’s all good; I tried it both ways – mouth open and shut – and the audience is going to be just fine.
Seats are selling fast and the buzz about the show is growing. This is great but I’ll feel a hell of a lot more comfortable when we get the first preview under our belt.. two days away and closing…
PS. I started writing this play two years ago, and before it became The Cage it was titled The Birthday Present. I find it bizzare and strangely comforting that The Cage opens in Edinburgh on August 4th which is indeed my birthday. I’ll be 42.
