The York venue has announced its plans for the new year
Imogen Stubbs will star in a world premiere production at York Theatre Royal's spring season.
Stubbs, whose recent stage credits include Things I Know To Be True and Communicating Doors, will lead Jonathan Lewis's new play The Be All and End All, about a couple desperately trying to get the best exam results for their son. The show will be directed by the venue's artistic director Damian Cruden, and runs from 4 to 19 May.
The spring season will also include a variety of touring productions, including Lola Arias' Minefield from 28 to 31 March), The Importance of Being Earnest starring Susan Penhaligon (17 to 21 April), Torben Betts' Monogramy starring Janie Dee (22 to 26 May) and Pallas Players' Whiskey Galore (24 to 28 April).
The venue will host the recently announced touring production of The Last Ship, a musical written by The Police frontman Sting and starring Jimmy Nail. It runs from 25 to 30 June. Metta Theatre will bring their Little Mermaid: The Circus Sensation, a family-friendly show, to the venue from 4 to 7 April.
In the Studio space, 2018 highlights include Offside by spoken word artists Sabrina Mahfouz and Hollie McNish (10 to 11 May), Jane Upton's Finding Nana (24 February) and Half Breed (8 to 9 May), starring Natasha Marshall.
