Who’s heading to Whoville?

Leeds Playhouse has announced that Dr. Seuss’s How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical will run this Christmas.
The new UK production will be presented in association with Running Subway. Based on the Dr. Seuss book, the show follows the residents of Who-ville as they prepare for Christmas, while the Grinch attempts to disrupt their celebrations, with the story narrated by his dog Max.
The musical has a book and lyrics by Timothy Mason and music by Mel Marvin. It made its UK premiere with a stadium tour in 2019.
The revival will now run at the Quarry Theatre from 19 November 2026 to 16 January 2027, with a press night scheduled for 26 November.
The production will be directed by Leeds Playhouse artistic director Tom Wright and forms part of his inaugural season at the venue. Further details of the creative team and casting will be announced at a later date.
Tickets will go on sale to Leeds Playhouse Priority Access members, Playhouse Pass members and Under 30 Scheme participants from 27 January, with general booking opening on 4 February.
The production will include relaxed and dementia-friendly performances, as well as a range of accessible performances and education workshops delivered by the Playhouse Connect team.
