Full casting and extra performance announced for Sweeney Todd starring Emma Thompson

Rosalie Craig and Alex Gaumond are joining the cast, and there will be an extra matinee on 5 April

Full casting has been announced for the upcoming Sweeney Todd at the London Coliseum starring Emma Thompson and Bryn Terfel.

Joining the pair and the previously announced John Owen-Jones, who plays Pirelli, will be Matthew Seadon-Young as Anthony Hope, Katie Hall as Johanna Barker, Philip Quast as Judge Turpin, Jack North as Tobias Ragg, Alex Gaumond as Beadle Bamford and Rosalie Craig as Beggar Woman.

The cast is completed by Madeleine Harland, Lydia Gerrard, Leah Penston, Frankie Jenna, Verity Quade, Susannah Van den Berg, Anna O’Byrne, Molly Lynch, Emily Bull, Gaia Wise, Alexandra Grierson, Vicki Lee Taylor, Katie Kerr, Ffion Emyr, Nancy Hill, Edd Campbell Bird, Alastair Brookshaw, Kane Oliver Parry, Scott Cripps, John Barr, Aaron Lee Lambert, Gary Tushaw, Ashley Robinson, Jeff Nicholson, Joseph Prouse, Gavin James, Marc Akinfolarin, Jacob Chapman, Ian Caddick and Adam Vaughan.

Lonny Price's production comes to English National Opera as the first in a new major partnership between it and the GradeLinnit Company. It premiered at the Lincoln Centre in New York in March this year, with Terfel as Sweeney Todd and Thompson as Mrs Lovett.

Sondheim's score includes "The Ballad of Sweeney Todd," "Not While I'm Around," "A Little Priest," and "Pretty Women."

An extra matinee performance has also been added on 5 April 2015 due to "unprecedented demand". Tickets for the extra matinee go on sale this morning (3 March) at 10am. Sweeney Todd runs at the London Coliseum from 30 March to 12 April 2015.
