The production will run for 13 performances from 30 March 2015
The much anticipated production of Sweeney Todd starring Emma Thompson and Bryn Terfel has been confirmed for a limited run at the London Coliseum from 30 March to 12 April 2015.
Lonny Price's production comes to English National Opera as the first in a new major partnership between it and the GradeLinnit Company. It premiered at the Lincoln Centre in New York in March this year, with Terfel as Sweeney Todd and Thompson as Mrs Lovett.
The show will be semi-staged, and will feature the ENO orchestra conducted by David Charles Abell, and further casting is to be announced.
Speaking of her return to the stage after a 25 year absence at this morning's press conference, Emma Thompson said she'd "never been so frightened" but that the experience was also "magical". She also hinted that she might not stay a stranger to theatre for so long again, saying she "would love to and am sure it will happen".
Sweeney Todd will have 300 seats at every performance available for £10, and priority booking opens today (16 September) with tickets on general sale at 10am on 23 September.
