The new play has its West End premiere

Production photos of Liz Duffy Adams’ Born With Teeth have arrived.
The two-hander, directed by Daniel Evans, imagines the relationship between Marlowe and Shakespeare at a time of political danger and artistic rivalry. The play is set in the winter of 1591, where the two writers meet in secret, developing a tense and complex connection against a backdrop of conspiracy and surveillance.
The production stars Ncuti Gatwa as Christopher Marlowe and Edward Bluemel as William Shakespeare. Matt Pettifor is the understudy William Shakespeare and Justice Ritchie is the understudy Christopher Marlowe.
Our editor in chief called the casting decision “magnificent” for new writing.
Co-produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company, Playful Productions and Elizabeth Williams, the production has design by Joanna Scotcher, lighting design by Neil Austin, sound design by George Dennis, video design by Andrzej Goulding, movement direction by Ira Mandela Siobhan and casting by Charlotte Sutton.
Born With Teeth runs at Wyndham’s Theatre, a Delfont Mackintosh venue, for an 11-week season until 1 November 2025.
