First look: Maxine Peake in A Streetcar Named Desire

Ahead of opening night in Manchester, here's a first look at Maxine Peake as Blanche DuBois in A Streetcar Named Desire.

The cast for Sarah Frankcom's revival of Tennessee Williams' play also includes Ben Batt, Duncan Brewster, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Michelle Butterly, Sandra Cole, Etta Fusi, Reuben Johnson, Youssef Kerkour, Reece Noi and Ryan Pope.

The play follows Blanche arriving in New Orleans from Mississippi to visit her sister Stella and husband Stanley after her family home is lost to creditors.

A Streetcar Named Desire runs at the Manchester Royal Exchange from 13 September until 15 October
