The tragic romance comes to Stratford-upon-Avon

The Royal Shakespeare Company has released rehearsal photos for its upcoming production of Cyrano de Bergerac.
The new version of Edmond Rostand’s play is by Simon Evans and Debris Stevenson, and is directed by Evans. It runs in the Swan Theatre from 27 September to 15 November 2025. Rostand’s classic follows a lyrical trickster whose romantic entanglements are seemingly beset by a large nose.
Adrian Lester makes his RSC debut in the title role, joined by Susannah Fielding, who returns to the company as Roxane, having previously appeared in The Merchant of Venice opposite Patrick Stewart.
Levi Brown plays Christian, while the full company includes Joseph Christain, Sunny Chung, Philip Cumbus, Greer Dale-Foulkes, Rachel Dawson, Oliver Grant, Scott Handy, Caolan McCarthy, David Mildon, Matt Mordak, Chris Nayak, Daniel Norford and Christian Patterson.
The creative team features Grace Smart (set and costume), Joshie Harriette (lighting), Alex Baranowski (composer), Donato Wharton (sound), Sarita Piotrowski (movement), Bethan Clark (fight and intimacy) and Matthew Dewsbury (casting).
