The five-star RSC production is primed for a London life

The Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of Cyrano de Bergerac will transfer to the West End, following its run in Stratford-upon-Avon last year.
Adrian Lester will reprise his role as Cyrano de Bergerac, with Susannah Fielding returning as Roxane. Further casting is to be announced.
The production is directed by Simon Evans, who has co-adapted Edmond Rostand’s play with Debris Stevenson, creating a new version of the text. It was heralded as “utterly exquisite” by critic Sarah Crompton during its initial season.
The play follows the poet, soldier and philosopher Cyrano de Bergerac, whose wit and eloquence contrast with his insecurity about his appearance.
Lester said today: “Simon Evans and I have been working on this project for years, well before the brilliant and incredibly supportive RSC collaborated with us to make it happen. I am so happy to be stepping back into the role of Cyrano in order to bring this playful and poignant production to more audiences in the West End.
“This fresh take on the classic is packed with the joyful lyricism of Simon and the amazing Debris Stevenson, whose poetry completely reinvented our approach to this classic. It is a wonderful show to be a part of, hilariously funny and desperately moving in equal parts.”
The transfer is presented by Wessex Grove, Gavin Kalin Productions and the Royal Shakespeare Company, with the Noël Coward Theatre operated by Delfont Mackintosh Theatres.

The creative team includes set and costume designer Grace Smart, lighting designer Joshie Harriette, composer Alex Baranowski, sound designer Donato Wharton, movement director Sarita Piotrowski, fight and intimacy director Bethan Clark, dramaturg Rebecca Latham for the Royal Shakespeare Company, and casting director Matthew Dewsbury for the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Cyrano de Bergerac runs at the Noël Coward Theatre from 13 June to 5 September 2026. Tickets go on sale on 6 February.
