Could be good… Irons / Dogging

Local Girl Productions is delighted to bring this “play of two halves” about football, family, dog racing and country music to the Brighton Fringe 2012.  Based on interviews with the people of Essex, West Ham fans, teenagers, greyhound owners and trainers, women who work at Romford Stadium to mention but a few, this funny and moving play examines the themes of loyalty, love, pride and class – with plenty of singing thrown in along the way!

Act One – Irons, introduces the audience to a family of West Ham fans in the Marshalls: grandad Jim Greg Tannahill, dad Rob Daniel Ward and son Bobby Joel Samuels as they face not only the Olympic Stadium decision, but also have to make a few of their own.

In Act Two, go Dogging and meet Romford Stadium workers and country music fans Sandra Ivy Sayers, Rob’s soon-to-be-ex-wife Linda Madeline Gould and Simone Joanna Griffin as they deal with changes both at work and at home.

Director, Lauren Bracewell, said “We’re really excited to bringing Irons / Dogging to Brighton and hope the play appeals not just to those who enjoy the theatre, but also to those who might prefer going to the football or the dogs.”

Local Girl Productions was formed by a group of LAMDA students upon their graduations and has performed at various venues in London and Essex (including the Tristan Bates and the BAC). The company is committed to making extraordinary theatre for, by and about “ordinary” humans.
