Chiswick House will open its doors at Christmas for the first time with a new theatrical experience created by CLW Event Design and Underbelly.

Running from 20 November to 4 January 2026, The Twelfth Night of Christmas will invite visitors to explore the historic interiors of the 18th century Neo-Palladian villa through a series of themed rooms inspired by the carol Twelve Days of Christmas and the Georgian era in which it was written.

Founded by theatre producer Charlotte Lloyd Webber and costume designer Adrian Lillie, CLW Event Design is known for staging large-scale installations at heritage sites including Castle Howard and Kensington Palace. For this new production they partner for the first time with Underbelly, the live entertainment company behind site-specific shows like Cabaret, playing at the Kit Kat Club, and Macbeth with Ralph Fiennes and Indira Varma.

Visitors will move through Chiswick House’s rooms transformed with bespoke sculptures, costumes and floristry, ending in a banquet installation in the lower tribune. Younger guests can meet Father Christmas in an 18th century grotto where he will share a story and a gift.

Built in 1729 by Richard Boyle, the 3rd Earl of Burlington, Chiswick House was designed as a grand villa for entertaining and displaying art, with gardens created with William Kent that helped define the English Landscape Garden style. In the 18th century, the house became a gathering place for artists and writers and remains a venue for exhibitions and events today.

Booking will open soon at chiswickhousechristmas.com.
