The cast joining Samantha Womack in the upcoming West End run of The Girl on the Train has been announced.

Starring alongside Womack will be Alex Ferns as Detective Inspector Gaskill, Marc Elliott as Dr Kamal Abdic and Philip McGinley as Scott Hipwell. They join the rest of the cast, which includes Kirsty Oswald (Megan Hipwell), Adam Jackson-Smith (Tom Watson), Lowenna Melrose (Anna Watson), Matt Concannon (ensemble) and Phillipa Flynn (ensemble).

John Dougall, Oliver Farnworth and Naeem Hayat will continue to play the roles of DI Gaskill, Scott Hipwell and Kamal Abdic on tour.

The show is an adaptation of Paula Hawkins' thriller novel and the subsequent DreamWorks film. It follows Rachel who watches what she thinks of as the perfect couple from the train window every day, in order to escape a life she hates. When she finds herself a witness to a possible crime, her life changes completely.

The Girl on the Train is adapted by Rachel Wagstaff and Duncan Abel and is directed by Anthony Banks with set and costumes by James Cotterill, lighting by Jack Knowles, sound by Ben and Max Ringham, projection design by Andrzej Goulding and fights by Alison de Burgh.

The show opened originally at the Leeds Playhouse (formerly West Yorkshire Playhouse) and starred Jill Halfpenny. In our four-star review of the show, WhatsOnStage reviewer James Willstrop said: "I haven't seen a more engaging, absorbing hour of theatre this year."
