Arthur Darvill to make National Theatre debut in Treasure Island

Darvill will play Long John Silver in the Christmas production

Arthur Darvill, who recently appeared in the West End in Once, will make his National Theatre debut this Christmas playing Long John Silver in a new adaptation of Treasure Island.

Adapted by Bryony Lavery and directed by Polly Findlay, the production, which is suitable for ages ten and above, opens in the Olivier Theatre on 10 December 2014.

The cast also includes: Daniel Coonan, Claire-Louise Cordwell, Paul Dodds, Heather Dutton, Patsy Ferran, Nick Fletcher, Joshua James, Helena Lymbery, Alexandra Maher, Alastair Parker, Tim Samuels, David Sterne, Ben Thompson, Zubin Varla and Roger Wilson.

Darvill, best known for his appearances in Doctor Who and Broadchurch on TV, has also previously appeared on stage in Our Boys (Duchess Theatre), Soft Cops (Royal Shakespeare Company), Doctor Faustus (Shakespeare's Globe), Been So Long (Young Vic) and Swimming with Sharks (Vaudeville Theatre).
