The playwright’s new piece runs at the Bridge Theatre
Images have been released offering a first look at Alan Bennett's new play, which is opening at the Bridge Theatre next week.
The piece is set in an old fashioned hospital on the edge of the Pennines which is threatened with closure as part of an NHS efficiency drive.
Bennett's piece is directed by Nicholas Hytner and features a cast including Samuel Barnett, Deborah Findlay, Peter Forbes, Sacha Dhawan, David Moorst and Jeff Rawle. The show will have design by Bob Crowley, lighting by Natasha Chivers and music by George Fenton.
Previous collaborations between Hytner and Bennett include the Olivier and Tony Award-winning play The History Boys, with Hytner going on to direct the film adaptation of the piece. Bennett's last full-length play was People, which debuted at the National Theatre in 2012.
