A Mirrored Monet will receive its London premiere at Charing Cross Theatre.

Written by composer, lyricist and dramatist Carmel Owen, and directed by Christian Durham, the new musical is inspired by the letters and diaries of Claude Monet and his contemporaries.

It explores the painter’s life and work, focusing on the period during the First World War when Monet was struggling to complete his Water Lilies series. Retreating into memory, he revisits his early years as an artist.

Jeff Shankley will play Monet in 1916, with Dean John-Wilson appearing as the painter in his youth. The cast also includes John Addison, Brooke Bazarian, Natalie Day, Ritesh Manugula, Sam Peggs, Aaron Pryce-Lewis and Steven Serlin, with Nick Bligh, Samuel Haughton and Meg Matthews appearing as understudies.

The production previously had an earlier iteration at Greenside’s Emerald Theatre during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2023.

The creative team for the London run includes Michael Webborn as music director, Libby Todd as set and costume designer, Jodie Underwood as lighting designer, Andy Johnson as sound designer and Matt Powell as video designer. General management is by Katy Lipson and Kristie Winsen for ARIA Entertainment.

It will run from 14 March to 9 May 2026, with a press night scheduled for 24 March.
