The Grinning Man extends its West End run
The Grinning Man, which opened in December, has extended its run in the West End.
Directed by Bristol Old Vic artistic director Tom Morris, the musical, based on a Victor Hugo novel, sees a young boy come to terms with a hideous disfigurement as he takes part in a surreal street carnival.
In our review of the West End production, Daisy Bowie-Sell described the piece as "a remarkable, entrancing achievement and a treat for anyone who likes their storytelling with plenty of dark magic thrown in."
The show will now be booking until 14 April at the Trafalgar Studios. The musical had its world premiere at Bristol Old Vic in December 2016, picking up a nomination for Best Regional Production at the WhatsOnStage Awards.
The production stars Louis Maskell as the titular grinning man, alongside Julian Bleach and Sanne den Besten. It features music from Tim Phillips and Marc Teitler with lyrics by Carl Grose, Morris, Phillips and Teitler. Puppetry company Gyre and Gimbal have supplied puppetry direction for the production.
The Grinning Man runs at Trafalgar Studios until 17 April.
