The Bristol Old Vic production opens at Trafalgar Studios next week
Production photos have been released for The Grinning Man in the West End, ahead of the show's opening night next week.
Starring Louis Maskell, Sanne den Besten and Julian Bleach, the musical features puppetry by Gyre and Gimble. It opened at Bristol Old Vic in December 2016, picking up a nomination for Best Regional Production at the WhatsOnStage Awards.
Directed by Tom Morris (War Horse), artistic director at Bristol Old Vic, the piece is based on the novel The Man Who Laughs by Victor Hugo, (also responsible for Les Miserables) and is about a new act at a fairground – a terribly scarred man who provokes a rapturous reaction in audiences.
In our review of the 2016 production, critic Matt Trueman praised the 'expansive, macabre fairytale'.
The Grinning Man runs at Trafalgar Studios from 18 December to 17 February, with previews from now.
