Paulette Randall and Bryony Kimmings win WOW Creative Industries Awards

This year marks the inaugural Women of the World Creative Industries Awards

Director Paulette Randall and theatremaker Bryony Kimmings have won awards at the Women of the World Festival at the Southbank Centre.

The WOW Creative Industries Awards, which were launched this year, recognise achievements by women across the creative sector.

Randall was given a lifetime achievement award for her work as a director and playwright in film and TV. Randall has been artistic director of Talawa Theatre Company and was associate director of the opening ceremony of the London Olympic Games in 2012. Her theatre productions include Fences at the Duchess Theatre in 2013.

Kimmings won the Bold Moves Award at the WOW Festival. Kimmings tweeted:

Kimmings' work includes 7 Day Drunk and the recent Fake it 'til you Make it. Her show A Pacifist's Guide to the War on Cancer will run at the National Theatre in October.

Julia Peyton Jones, co-director of the Serpentine Gallery, also won a lifetime achievement award.
