Casting has been announced for new rock musical Myth: The Rise and Fall of Orpheus, which opens at The Other Palace in March.

Directed by Arlene Phillips, Sam Cassidy's musical will feature Zoe Birkett (The Bodyguard), Jaymi Hensley (Union J), Jodie Jacobs (Carrie), Jodie Steele (Wicked) and Jessamy Stoddart (Les Miserables).

They will be joined by Joe Burman, Richard Carson, Eloise Davies, Amy Di Bartolomeo, Lauren Ellis-Steele, Joel Harper-Jackson, Laura Johnson, Shekinah McFarlane, Matthew McKenna, Alice Martin and Damien Walsh.

The production, which premiered as 27 at the Cockpit Theatre in 2016, will have a revised book and new songs and will be semi-staged for nine concert performances.

The piece is a modern retelling of the ancient Greek story of Orpheus and the underworld. It looks at mental illness and addiction and its original title referred to the early deaths of musicians including Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain and Amy Winehouse.

Myth: The Rise and Fall of Orpheus runs at The Other Palace from 10 to 17 March 2018.
