Eva Noblezada and André de Shields to star in Hadestown at the National

Full casting has been announced for new musical Hadestown, which opens at the National Theatre later this year.

André De Shields and Eva Noblezada will take the roles of Hermes and Eurydice in the show, with Reeve Carney playing Orpheus. Also cast are Rosie Fletcher, Carly Mercedes Dyer and Gloria Onitiri as the Fates.

Amber Gray and Patrick Page, who starred in the original New York Theatre Workshop production, will play Persephone and Hades in the London run, with Sharif Afifi, Beth Hinton-Lever, Seyi Omooba, Aiesha Pease, Joseph Prouse, Jordan Shaw and Shaq Taylor completing the ensemble.

Following the love between Eurydice and Orpheus as they go down to the legendary Hadestown, the production is based on Anaïs Mitchell's concept album, which mixes American folk with New Orleans jazz.

It is directed by Rachel Chavkin, with design by Rachel Hauck, costume design by Michael Krass, lighting design by Bradley King, sound design by Nevin Steinberg and Jessica Paz, choreography by David Neumann, musical direction and vocal arrangements by Liam Robinson, orchestrations and arrangements by Michael Chorney and Todd Sickafoose, with Ken Cerniglia as dramaturg.

Casting for the Broadway transfer is to be confirmed.
