Ed Miliband and Claire Sweeney join stars at the opening of The Best Man

The politician joined Ed Hall, Maureen Lipman, Martin Shaw and the rest of the cast of ”The Best Man” for the show’s West End run

Stars such as Claire Sweeney joined Ed Miliband, Ed Hall and more at the opening night of The Best Man in the West End.

The cast includes Martin Shaw, Jack Shepherd, Maureen Lipman, Honeysuckle Weeks, Glynis Barber and Jeff Fahey. Gore Vidal's play runs in the West End following a tour which also featured Shaw in the lead. The piece is about two presidential party candidates who are level in the polls for their party's nomination.

In a recent interview with Martin Shaw and the cast, Barber said the play was still very relevant, despite being written over 50 years ago.

The Best Man runs at the Playhouse in London until 12 May.
