Casting has been announced for the Orange Tree's upcoming revival of William Congreve's The Double Dealer.

The rarely performed play will star Jonathan Broadbent (Brisk/Say Grace), Simon Chandler (Sir Paul), Jonathan Coy (Lord Touchwood), Lloyd Everitt (Mellefont), Edward Macliam (Maskwell), Dharmesh Patel (Careless), Jenny Rainsford (Lady Plyant), Paul Reid (Lord Froth), Hannah Stokely (Lady Froth) and Zoe Waites (Cynthia/Lady Touchwood).

The Double Dealer will be directed by Selina Cadell, with sets from Madeleine Girling, costumes from Rosalind Ebbutt and lighting from Vince Herbert.

The piece is set during a house party where a marriage has been arranged between Cynthia, daughter of Lord Touchwood (played by Waites), and Mellefont (played by Everitt). It was written by Congreve when he was only 24 and was first produced in 1693. It predates Congreve's more famous works, which include The Way of the World and Love for Love.

The show runs from 7 December to 26 January.
