Rob Hastie directs Peter Gill’s 2001 play
We caught up with Jonathan Bailey and Ben Batt to find out more about Peter Gill's The York Realist, which opens at the Donmar Warehouse this week.
Gill's play – about family, love and the clash between regional and London culture – premiered at the Lowry in 2001 before transferring to the Bristol Old Vic, the Royal Court Theatre and the Novello the following year.
Sheffield Theatres' artistic director Robert Hastie returns to the Donmar to direct following his productions of My Night With Reg and Splendour.
The York Realist runs at the Donmar Warehouse from 13 February to 24 March, and at Sheffield Crucible from 27 March to 7 April.
