Blues in the Night cast: Gemma Sutton and Debbie Kurup join Sharon D Clarke and Clive Rowe

The show will open at the Kiln Theatre in July

Full casting has been announced for the upcoming run of Blues in the Night.

Joining the already announced Sharon D Clarke as The Lady and Clive Rowe as The Man will be Debbie Kurup (The Woman) and Gemma Sutton (The Girl).

The production opens at the Kiln Theatre on 24 July, with previews from 18 July, and runs until 7 September. Susie McKenna directs the show, which was conceived and originally directed by Sheldon Epps. Blues in the Night is set in Chicago in 1939 and is a complication of 26 blues numbers which frame the lives and loves of four people in a downtown hotel. Songs included are by icons such as Bessie Smith, Duke Ellington, Johnny Mercer and Harold Arlen.

This revival, the first major London revival in 30 years, has musical direction from Mark Dickman, choreography from Frank Thompson, designs from Robert Jones, costume from Lotte Collett, lighting from Neil Austin and sound design from Avgoustos Psillas.
