Angela Griffin and Trevor White will star in the upcoming dystopian thriller Building the Wall, which opens at the Park Theatre in May.

Set in 2019, the show, inspired by the policies of Donald Trump, follows Rick who is incarcerated for 'the crime of the century', and is interviewed by Gloria, an African American historian.

The show is written by Pulitzer Prize, Tony, and WGA Award winner Robert Schenkkan, and has so far seen over 60 US productions. It will be making its UK premiere with this debut run.

Schenkkan said: "I wrote Building the Wall in October 2016, before the Presidential election because even then it seemed to me that real and lasting damage had been done to the American republic. The consequences of that election have certainly born out my presentiment, but it is important to remember that Trump is only a uniquely American expression of a problem currently facing all the western democracies – the rise of right-wing, nationalist movements."

Griffin's recent credits include The Captive Queen and One Man, Two Guvnors, and is known for her roles in Lewis and Brief Encounters. White has appeared in The Durrells, Thebes Land and Enron.

Building the Wall runs from 4 May to 2 June with previews from 2 May.
