Webber's Starlight Gets Yazbek Tune-up???

By • West End
While Cats embarks on an extensive UK tour in February 2003, not much has been heard of Andrew Lloyd Webber's other long-running musical that shut up shop in 2002. His roller-skating homage to steam trains, Starlight Express, closed at the Apollo Victoria on 12 January 2002, after nearly 18 years in the West End. Around that time, there was a rumour that it would be resurrected in Cirque du Soleil-style Big Top (See The Goss, 6 Dec 2001), but all went a bit quiet. Now the Daily Mail is reporting that Lloyd Webber and wife Madeleine are collaborating on a new version of the musical with American songwriter David Yazbek, whose Broadway stage musicalisation of The Full Monty recently closed at the Prince of Wales. According to the newspaper, the revved up Express will open in the US sometime in 2003.
