Sir Ian Holm and Lia Williams may well be bringing the Dublin Gate Theatre's production of Harold Pinter's The Homecoming to the West End in September 2001. Directed by Robin Lefevre, this version played in Dublin throughout June, winning acclaim for its tough portrayal of families and how to survive them. Holm actually performed in Sir Peter Hall's original production of the play, which dates back to 1965. Holm, who was knighted for his services to theatre, took the role of Lenny back then, but has recently appeared as the domineering Max. The original also marked Holm's debut on Broadway. Williams was Olivier and Tony-nominated for her role in David Hare's Skylight, and also starred in the TV drama Imogen's Face with Samantha Janus.
