Ghost is a screen-to-stage adaptation of the hit 1990 film of the same name which starred Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore. It opened at the Piccadilly Theatre on 19 July 2011 (preview from 24 June 2011).
The show focuses on Molly and Sam, a couple who are mugged walking home one night. Murdered in the attack, Sam is trapped as a ghost between this world and the next, and unwilling to leave Molly who remains in danger. With the help of a phoney psychic Oda Mae Brown, Sam attempts to communicate with and save Molly.
Sam was originally played in the West End by Richard Fleeshman (who won this year's Whatsonstage.com Award for Best Actor in a Musical) and Caissie Levy. The roles are currently played by Siobhan Dillon and Mark Evans, who took over in January when Fleeshman and Levy left to open the show on Broadway.
Matthew Warchus' production, which has a score by Dave Stewart and Glen Ballard and a book by the original screenplay writer Bruce Joel Rubin, was nominated in nine categories at the 2012 Whatsonstage.com Awards, winning three.
