A popular tale of fame, fortune and jazz will be stripped back to its vaudevillian roots next month.
Taking place at the Oldham Coliseum, Chicago is set to "Razzle Dazzle" audiences with its unique take on the infamous story of Roxy Hart and Velma Kelly.
The revival will be the first of its kind since the show's 1997 West End Run - with the Coliseum being granted the rights to take on the famous jazz musical.
Director Kevin Shaw said: ""We're extremely proud to have been awarded the rights to refresh this classic musical after all these years and the Coliseum is the perfect venue.
"The theatre is typical of a venue that would have welcomed a performing troupe of the kind that features in Chicago. It's set to be a uniquely intimate musical with the audience right on top of the action."
It tells the true story of some of the earliest "celebrity criminals" and was initially penned by a reporter at the Chicago Tribune, before being transformed for the stage by trio John Kander, Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse.
The Coliseum's adaptation of Chicago will run between 13 September-12 October 2013.
